Bass Family Reunion

We headed to Nashville on Thursday for the annual Bass family reunion. Bailey and I had not been since before we got engaged. That year it was at a state park and pretty boring but maybe because I didn't really know anyone and the fun cousins didn't go. Last year, Becky hosted it at her house on the lake and everyone raved about it. So, this year we made plans to spend the weekend with the Bass family. This is Windy's (Bailey's Mom) side of the family.
On Thursday night, some of us got together and ate at a Mexican restaurant. Two of Bailey's cousins from Nashville were missing the weekend festivities because of prior engagements. We were fortunate to see them that night before they both headed to Birmingham. Brian was going to Birmingham-Southern for rush/orientation and Christine had a wedding to attend. It was fun to chat with them. We also got to eat with both of their families, Nana, and Aunt Peggy. Granger tried to entertain the group by drinking a bowl of hot salsa. In the end, he continued to laugh with a napkin in his mouth. On Friday we had lunch at Nana's house and visited with Julie, Chris, Zach, Dillon, Peggy, and our surprise visitor Brandon. We were all really excited about seeing Uncle Brandon (Bailey's brother). Granger particularly loves Uncle Brandon because he is a real cowboy and pilot. This was the first time Granger had ever seen Brandon without his boots and cowboy hat. He asked Uncle Brandon where his Wrangler jeans were too because he had on shorts. After lunch, Zach, Granger, and Zetta Grace spent a little while playing in Nana's sprinkler and rolling down the hill like their parents did as children. The kids rested up and then we headed out to Lebanon, Tennessee to Becky's place on the lake. It was a beautiful place and perfect for everyone to get together. We had a wonderful dinner and the kids really enjoyed playing outside.

Granger became fascinated with a cat that was hiding under the empty house next door. I found him almost under the house at one point. When Granger was asked what he was doing, he replied, "I'm looking for my boy". My response was, "Who is your boy?" He said, "That cat under there is my boy Momma!".

On Saturday morning, we headed back to the lake and played on Uncle Steve's boat with all the cousins. The kids totally loved riding in the boat and Granger tubed with his Dad. Unfortunately my camera was on dry land and I have no pictures to prove it. But, my cautious child had fun bouncing on the waves. GerWindy even tubed at her young age of 68. I might be in trouble for posting GerWindy's age but she should be proud. We tried to recreate a picture that was taken last summer of the cousins but the kids didn't cooperate so well. Unfortunately, us Moms' had to be included in our bathing suits. I think I am the only one who minded though. Would you if you looked like those other Moms? Guess I know where I need to be in the mornings instead of eating bom bons. It was a lot of fun having everyone together and the cousins all seemed to enjoy tubing and laughing at each other. We decided that my neice, Wynn, was an excellent tuber and she stayed on the tube practically all day. I have never seen a young person be so strong and determined to stay on the tube. At one point the boys got to go out on the boat with Nana and she looked exhausted by the end. I would have loved to hear the laughing and stories that she probably did. We also had one little incident with an exploding diaper. Did you know what would happen if you tubed with a regular diaper on?
Here are the results.

We stayed at the lake all day and night until 8:45 pm. The kids had no nap except for the one that Granger took on the boat. Zetta Grace was a champ until she hit the wall at 8:30 and was ready for bed. We made the 45 minute drive back to the Nashville hotel and rested well.
Our Nashville trip was slam packed with Bass family fun-filled times and then the kids and I headed south to visit LA (lower Alabama).
